Dubai Police have successfully dismantled a drug trafficking network operating from a residential villa in the emirate, arresting two Asian nationals linked to the gang and confiscating a large haul of narcotics . The operation, code-named “Operation Villa,” uncovered the group’s extensive drug distribution activities under the guidance of a trafficker directing the operation from abroad.
According to Dubai Police, the investigation began when police received intelligence indicating that a criminal gang was using a villa as a base to distribute drugs across Dubai. A specialized task force was immediately formed to carry out surveillance and field investigations, tracking the suspects’ movements and studying their methods of avoiding law enforcement detection. Through these efforts, officers managed to lure one gang member into a trap and arrest him. Upon interrogation, he revealed the identity and role of his partner involved in the network.
In a subsequent sting operation, authorities caught the second suspect red-handed while packaging drugs inside the villa. Further questioning confirmed that both individuals were operating under the orders of a gang leader who was coordinating the operation remotely from overseas.
During the raid, police seized a total of 40 kilograms of various narcotics, including ketamine, crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, hashish oil, as well as other chemical substances and liquids used in drug production or distribution. These seizures represent a significant blow to the gang’s activities and highlight the seriousness of drug trafficking threats in the region.
Brigadier Khalid bin Muwaiza , Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics , emphasized that this successful bust reflects the relentless commitment of Dubai Police to dismantle drug networks and protect the community. He highlighted the use of advanced crime-fighting technologies, including artificial intelligence, integrated with the skills of highly trained officers to ensure the swift identification and interception of criminal operations, even when masterminds operate from abroad.
The authorities reiterated their zero-tolerance stance against any attempts to undermine public safety through drug-related crimes. Brigadier bin Muwaiza called on the public to remain vigilant and cooperate by reporting any suspicious behaviors, activities, or communications linked to drugs. Citizens can provide tips through the police call center at 901 or the “Police Eye” service available on the Dubai Police smartphone app.
