SRINAGAR: The killing of three Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Operation Mahadev had reaffirmed that terrorism would not succeed, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah said Tuesday.
“I have not seen them (the terrorists). I do not know who they were. Only those who have seen him can identify who they were. But if they have been killed, it is a welcome step. This should be a lesson to others that terrorism will never succeed,” he said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Srinagar.
BJP spokesman Altaf Thakur said Pahalgam had been avenged with the elimination of the three Pakistani terrorists responsible for it. “On April 22, Pahalgam turned red with the blood of innocents — victims of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. That blood has not gone in vain. The killers have been brought to justice today,” Thakur said in a statement.
“This is more than just an encounter. It is a powerful message carved in iron. Anyone who dares to bleed Kashmir will be tracked, cornered and eliminated. Our forces have shown yet again that there is no safe haven for terrorists on Indian soil,” he added.
Many political parties in Kashmir, including People’s Democratic Party and Peoples Conference, have not issued any statement on Operation Mahadev so far.
