There will be a new Wimbledon women's singles champion on Saturday as Iga Swiatek takes on Amanda Anisimova in both players' first SW19 final. Former world No. 1 Swiatek is playing the best grass-court season of her career and is the favourite to claim her sixth Grand Slam title on Centre Court this afternoon. She blitzed Belinda Bencic in just 74 minutes in their semi-final.
Anisimova reached the French Open semi-final as a 17-year-old in 2019, before quitting tennis completely four years later. She did not receive a wildcard on her comeback to Wimbledon last year and was defeated in qualifying, before returning this year and storming the competition en route to the final. She beat Aryna Sabalenka in a three-set thriller on Thursday, leading the top seed to blast her behaviour and admit she was "p***ed off" with the American.
