 
   Singer Scott Sorry has died after a lengthy battle with brain cancer, it has been confirmed. It is understood that the former star of The Wildhearts - whose real name was Gerard Engelter- died on his 47th birthday. The devastating news was confirmed on his official Instagram account on Thursday (October 30) with a heartfelt statement.
It read: "We're heartbroken to share that Scott Sorry has passed away after a long and incredibly brave fight with brain cancer. Scott passed away on his 47th birthday, October 30th, 2025. After being diagnosed with Glioblastoma back in 2018, Scott refused to let it define him.
"He outlived every doctor's expectation, turning months into years, and even made it back to the UK in 2022 for a tour - something that meant the world to him. He was so grateful to be able to play again, to see so many familiar faces, and to personally thank so many of you who had supported him through it all.
"We're devastated beyond words, but there's comfort in knowing he's finally free from pain. His strength, humour, and heart will stay with us forever. Scott is survived by his wife, Hanni, and his three children, River, Ryder, and Rörik."
Fans were quick ot share messages of sympathy and condolences in the comments section on the devastating post. Model Mayra Dias Gomes wrote: "Terribly heartbroken. Rest in heaven, Scott. You will forever be loved & missed." The former wrestling star also shares several snaps of the pair together as her own Instagram Stories.
Another user wrote: "All the rock'n'roll world mourns your passing. You will never be forgotten," as a third echoed: "Deeply saddened by this. My heartfelt and deepest condolences to his family and friends. You'll be missed, old friend."
Scott was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017. At the time, the news was confirmed by bandleader Ginger on social media. He wrote on X/Twitter: "Dear Wildhearts community. My brother Scott Sorry is very sick. He has a brain tumour and he needs all of our help."
The musician then shared a GoFundMe page that had been set up by friend Rich Jones. The page's description read: "The doctors have described it as a two-inch cystic tumour on the left side of his brain, and it's currently affecting his speech and motor functions.
"Right now, he's in for observation, and they expect to perform surgery on him on December 26th. We're all pulling for Scott, and if anyone can get through this thing, but right now we have to just wait and see."
It described how Scott had scaled back his work in the music industry over the years to focus on his family. Speaking on why he set up the fund, Rich added: "I'm setting up this fund to help give some relief to a guy who has brought so much joy to others through his music, his friendship, and his selfless love for his family." He concluded the post by calling Scott "one of the best guys I know."
