Prince Edward has been praised by a fan in Canada after he gave her a hug on his royal tour. The Duke of Edinburgh is currently on a seven-day solo trip to the country, where he is carrying out a number of engagements.
On June 26, the prince kicked off the royal tour in Prince Edward Island, where he visited Charlottetown. As well as attending the Atlantic Canada Education Forum at the Shaw Building, he also attended a Luncheon for young people held by the Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island at Government House.
After this, the King's younger brother visited Abegweit First Nation at Scotchfort before attending a dinner at Government House.
While the day was busy for the prince, it seemed that he still had time to stop and chat with royal fans, including local woman Barbara Bernard.
In an interview, Barbara said she "asked him if he wanted a hug" and he said "ok", with the pair then sharing a hug. She said Edward, 61, was a "very good hugger".
The sweet story has caught the attention of royal fans, with many now taking to X to praise Prince Edward.
One fan wrote: "That's so sweet!"
Another said: "How really cute! Nice she got to hug him, he really seems like a warm, charming guy after all so why not!"
Someone else wrote: "The myth, the prince, the hugger!"
Duchess Sophie has not accompanied her husband on his week-long tour of Canada.
The prince is due back in the UK on July 2.
