Newcastle United appear to be on the brink of losing out on Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson, as Bayern Munich are reportedly nearing a loan move for the player. In the final days of the summer transfer window, Eddie Howe is looking to bolster his side's attacking line-up following Callum Wilson's departure and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding star striker Alexander Isak.
The Swedish international is angling for a move to Liverpool before the deadline, with Newcastle having previously turned down a £110million offer from the Reds. Currently, Isak is training separately from the main Newcastle squad and has yet to feature in any of the club's opening Premier League fixtures. Jackson, who is no longer needed at Stamford Bridge, looks set to depart Chelsea before the window closes.
However, if Newcastle want to bring him to St James' Park, they'll need to act swiftly. Sky Germany have reported that Jackson is 'set' for a loan move to Bayern Munich. It's further reported that advanced negotiations are underway, with Jackson agreeing personal terms with the German club, who will cover all of his wages.
While Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern are keen to sign the player, there is not yet an agreement with Chelsea. He adds that Chelsea are waiting until the Isak situation is resolved before deciding on the best course of action for Jackson.
This suggests that Newcastle may still have an opportunity to finalise the transfer if they desire. However, they might need to act swiftly as Bayern are expected to make another approach to Chelsea within the next 24 hours.
