ITV The Chase fans blast player minutes into episode over major blunder

Fans who tuned into the latest episode of The Chase were left scratching their heads within minutes after a major question blunder. During the latest instalment, Mike from Leeds, Sara from Wigan, Stuart from Glasgow, and Jean from Surbiton teamed up to try and win a cash prize. They were up against Shaun Wallace - aka The Dark Destroyer - and Mike was the first player to go first. During the cash-builder round, he did manage to get some questions right, but also made a huge blunder. Bradley Walsh quizzed him: "What's the longest-running dance troupe on Top of the Pops?" Mike replied and guessed: "Abba?" but he failed to get the question right.

Those who saw the blunder reacted online, with one person saying: "Yeah, I remember Abba doing an interpretive dance to Gilbert O'Sullivan's 'Get Down'. #thechase."

A second also chimed in: "So ABBA were dancers on Top of the Pops. Got it. #TheChase." A third also echoed: "Q: What's the longest-running dance troupe on #TOTP? Mike: Abba," and added a face-palm emoji from the long-running American series, The Office.

Despite the awkward mishap, Mike made it through to the final round with Stuart and Jean, but Sara was quickly caught out by Shaun. Jean sadly took a lower offer of minus £1,000 during her round, so the final tally was £9,000 at the last round.

The three players worked together to answer as many questions as possible correctly. However, after a strong start, they only managed to salvage 14 questions as their target for Shaun Wallace.

This turned out to be a walk in the park for The Dark Destroyer, who caught up with them with plenty of time remaining. He did say that he thought Mike and Stuart were very good players.

Recently, fellow Chaser Mark Labbett has given a rare insight into Shaun Wallace's romantic life. Both TV stars started together as the original Chasers on the ITV quiz show in 2009, before they were joined by Paul Sinha, Anne Hegerty, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis.

Mark has recently signed up to the Channel 4 dating show, Celebs Go Dating, and spoke to Express Online about his new experience. He also touched on the love lives of his fellow co-stars, notably giving a rare look into Shaun's romantic encounters away from the show.

When quizzed if he had told his fellow Chasers about appearing on the dating show, Mark admitted: "I've told them I've gone on the thing. It's because, recently, Paul and Darragh got married, but Jenny's got a partner. We never know what Shaun's love life is. It's mysterious. I think Shaun does have a girlfriend, and Anne is Anne."
