Flight passengers travelling in a group often wish to be seated together, or a family with small children may wish to be in a row together. Most airlines offer travellers the option to pre-book seats for a small fee to guarantee the plane seat they wish for. Whilst this can be expensive, I always opt for this option for many reasons.
This includes easing my nerves by knowing where I am located and avoiding one particular plane seat. I travel pretty regularly and have taken at least one flight a month this year, so I'm pretty used to flying, but there's still one seat I'll never sit in.

This is the middle seat. I avoid the middle seat on an aircraft at all costs because it offers no window or aisle space, limited personal space and requires disturbing others to get up or move around.
Whilst you still have to disturb passengers if you're located by the window, at least you can get some great views from the sky.
I flew in the middle seat once and felt sandwiched between two strangers, with neither armrest available to me.
However, if you are scared of flying, picking the middle seat could offer some comfort as you're surrounded by passengers.
Another seat I'll personally never opt for on a short-haul flight is the aisle.
This is because I was always bumped by passengers and carts, and was always up and waiting for others to use the bathroom.
You also miss the scenic views, but if you struggle with mobility or need a little extra space, it could be a good seat.
On long-haul flights, I always opt for the aisle seat because I don't have to risk disturbing anyone who is sleeping.
On short-haul flights, it's always the window seat, as I know I won't be getting up, or at least only once. I also like to sit in the middle of the plane, which is usually around row 19 or 20 on the planes I go on.
The turbulence feels less, you can see the wing for reassurance if you're scared of flying, and there's chance they'll have plenty of food left.
