Full list of confirmed Poundland, Morrisons and WHSmith store closures in 2025

The UK's high streets have changed and are still changing, with many mainstay stores having disappeared. A lack of footfall, high rents, inflation and the COVID-19 pandemic have all hastened shops' demises, and this has, in many cases, caused people's home town centres to be quite depressing places. Huge brands, such as Poundland, Morrisons and WHSmith are choosing to close or sell some of their outlets, with the latter evacuating from the high street altogether and being taken over by TGJones.

Some of these company's stores have already closed, with more facing the chop soon. A House of Lords report released in 2024 stated: "The dominance of retail on high streets is something of the past. Whilst shopping will still be a key feature, there is greater demand and opportunity for restaurants and leisure activities, as well as for more public services, such as health centres and libraries, in town centres." Morrisons supermarkets are also closing, as well as some of its cafés.
