'Deranged' Donald Trump taken down in explosive Seth Meyers rant

US talk show host Seth Meyers took aim at "deranged" president Donald Trump in a brutal monologue on his NBC show Late Night with Seth Meyers. The pair have been embroiled in a fierce feud for months, with Trump posting to his Truth Social account: "Seth Meyers of NBC may be the least talented person to 'perform' in the history of television.

"In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise. I watched his show the other night for the first time in years. In it, he talked endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers which I complain about as not being as good as much less expensive steam catapults. On and on he went, a truly deranged lunatic."

Trump added: "Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this??? NO TALENT, NO RATINGS". He claimed Meyers is "100% ANTI-TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL".

But now Meyers has hit back, joking with viewers: "The president jeopardising food assistance for tens of millions of Americans matters. What matters far less is when the president posts about me, which he did over the weekend, saying among other things that I may be the least talented person to 'perform' live in the history of television, calling me a deranged lunatic and commenting that I 'talked endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers'.

"There's one thing that I simply have to address. You can say I'm untalented, you can say I'm deranged, but I'm not the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers! You're the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!"

A montage then showed of Trump saying the word 'catapult' over and over, before Meyers jabbed: "Until you said something, I didn't even know aircraft carriers had catapults! I'm not the talk about catapult guy, just ask my friends! Oh, friends are... how would I describe this to you? They're like people who enjoy spending time with you independent of financial and legal favours you can grant them."

He went on to take aim at the president's memory, quipping: "Which is it? You watched me for the first time this week, or for the first time in months in January? Do you not remember? Is that how you end up posting six times about a new bathroom? You just forget the first five times?

"I'm starting to sound like a deranged lunatic, but that's what you do to us! You make us talk about what you're talking about and then we all sound crazy!" he concluded.
