Eight-time Major winner Andre Agassi has been giving his insight on Carlos Alcaraz's semi-final match against Taylor Fritz on the BBC on day 12 of Wimbledon. The retired tennis icon stepped away from the sport for years, but he's been getting involved in commentary in recent weeks and got on the airwaves on Wimbledon men's semi-final day.
But the American feared that he was going "against protocol" when he asked co-commentators Andrew Castle and Tim Henman a question that eventually went unanswered.
Alcaraz and Fritz are facing off for a spot in Sunday's final, and the winner will meet either Novak Djokovic or Jannik Sinner. The 38-year-old will meet the top seed in the second semi-final later today.
It will be a rematch of their nail-biting French Open contest, also in the semi-finals, which Sinner won in three tight sets. And Agassi started getting excited about the next contest once Alcaraz went 5-3 up in the third set against Fritz, having split the first two sets.
"Is it against protocol to ask your prediction of the next match or shall we not even visit there? We got a 5-3 lead, maybe changeover we'll go there," he asked.
Andrew Castle was surprised to hear Agassi talk about Djokovic vs Sinner. "You already looking ahead?" he replied.
Agassi added: "It's not ahead. It's just a matter of when they play. I'm not suggesting this is over with. I'm just saying we've got one heck of a match to follow."
Castle agreed that it would "no doubt" be a cracker, but neither he nor Henman gave a prediction.
The American also gave an insight into his private life at home with his wife and fellow tennis icon Steffi Graf, the 22-time Grand Slam champion, as Castle asked what it was like to be "number two" in the house, with Graf outdoing him at the Majors.
"Well I mean listen, I don't know your laws over here on this side of the pond but, for me, if she leaves me, I get half. So that's at least 11 more that I get to take from her if she decides to leave me. But she's not going to leave me!" Agassi joked.
He also confirmed they still got on the tennis court, though they don't have one at home. "We do enjoy every now and then. She likes to exercise and run, I like a good ball so she hits it to me, I make her run, and we're so thrilled on the tennis court," he added.
"No we don't, we never brought business home nor do we think of it that often. Not a trophy in the house. That being said, I marvelled at her on the tennis court but I marvel at her more in everything she does."
