In a surprising turn of events in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, MI New York, a team that won only three out of ten matches in the league stage, has defied expectations to reach the final. On Saturday, July 12, in the Qualifier-2 match at the Dallas ground, MI New York, captained by Nicholas Pooran, defeated Texas Super Kings by seven wickets. They will now face Washington Freedom in the title match on July 14.
The victory was highlighted by a stunning six from captain Nicholas Pooran, which reportedly traveled an astonishing 102 meters and went out of the field.
Pooran and Pollard Dominate ChaseChasing a target of 167 runs set by Texas Super Kings, Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard played instrumental innings to guide MI New York to a comfortable victory with six balls to spare. Pooran remained unbeaten on 52 runs off 36 balls, striking at 144.44, including four fours and three sixes. The massive 102-meter six came off a delivery in the 16th over, leaving bowler Marcus Stoinis visibly stunned.

Texas Super Kings' InningsEarlier in Qualifier-2, Texas Super Kings had a shaky start, losing opener Samit Patel for just nine runs. At one point, they were reeling at 85 for 5 wickets. However, Akeal Hosein and Devon Ferreira staged a crucial recovery.
Akeal Hosein played a brilliant unbeaten innings of 55 runs from 32 balls, decorated with four fours and four sixes. Ferreira chipped in with 32 runs off 20 balls, including three fours and one six. Captain Faf du Plessis was the top scorer for Texas, making 59 runs from 42 balls with seven fours and one six. For MI New York, Tristan Lewis was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 35 runs in four overs, while Rushil Ugarkar claimed two wickets for 31 runs.
