Shoaib Akhtar on Jasprit Bumrah: Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has given such a statement about Bumrah which has created a stir among the fans.
Shoaib Akhtar: India was defeated by England (IND vs ENG) by 5 wickets in the first Test. India may have faced defeat, but Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly in the match. Bumrah took 5 wickets in the first innings of the Test match. In such a situation, former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has reacted to Bumrah's bowling. Akhtar has described Bumrah as the most honest fast bowler in the world. Akhtar praised Bumrah after the first Test match between India and England and said that "Bumrah bowled brilliantly in the Test match in which 1600 runs were scored. Apart from Bumrah, any other bowler seemed an average bowler.
Akhtar, who is known as 'Rawalpindi Express', said, a lot of runs have been scored against bowlers in Test matches. But my eye fell on Bumrah. 5 wickets for 83 runs in 23 overs... just think, he actually bowled brilliantly with the back flip, Bumrah bowled brilliantly, Jasprit Bumrah... really really good, bowling 23 overs in an innings is not a common thing. A lot of power is needed for this.
Regarding Bumrah (Shoaib Akhtar on Bumrah), Akhtar further said, "The happiness is that he is a very honest fast bowler, have you ever seen him do this or that to play a Test match or walk out of there.. he takes responsibility and performs. Is this a Test match? 1600 runs were scored and those were scored by fast bowlers only.. except Bumrah no one has made an impact with their bowling. Man, I am not able to digest it, I can digest 600 runs and that too from both the teams combined."
The world's fastest bowler Akhtar further said, "Okay, I can understand but I am shocked to see this score. Apart from Bumrah, the bowling standard has dropped a lot. Sorry, but this was a Test match. The two best teams in the world were playing and I am definitely saddened to see the condition of the bowlers like this."
Apart from this, Akhtar also raised questions about Bumrah's workload and said, "Is this workload management? Workload management is called this, he had to bowl 23-24 overs in an innings. Workload management means that another bowler should also be played with him who can maintain the pressure from one end. You had Siraj and Shardul but you will also have to play another bowler who has the passion to win you the match with his bowling, if you want to manage the workload for Bumrah, then put two good bowlers in front of him.."
Shoaib further said, "You have to decide how many overs you want Bumrah to bowl in a day. You have to tell Bumrah that Jassi you have to bowl 16 overs in a day. Not more than that, you have to decide how many overs he will bowl in a day. This is called work load. If this continues then it is work load management, I am afraid that Bumrah may have to bowl 50 overs in a day."
On the other hand, there are reports that Bumrah will not play the second Test match of the series due to workload, according to the report, Arshdeep Singh can be included in India's XI in the second Test match. The second Test match of the series between India and England will be played at Edgbaston from July 2. Where the Indian team has not won a single Test match so far.
