With the launch of the new series of Taskmaster, it is perhaps safe to assume that Channel 4 bosses would be keen to raise the stakes when it came to the challenges. But viewers were left horrified after witnessing the degrading task the celebrities were forced to endure in order to win points.
The challenge in question was part of the second episode of the new series, presented by Greg Davies and Alex Horne.
And the guests included Sanjeev Bhaskar, Ania Magliano, Maisie Adam, Reece Shearsmith and Phil Ellis.
The challenge consisted of the celebrities having to identify particular objects by using one of their senses. Hearing gave the contestants five points, smell gave them four points, taste was given three points, touch was two points and sight was one point.

Sanjeev chose hearing, Ania picked smell, both Maisie and Reece chose taste, and Phil took the option of touch.
This meant that Maisie and Reece, having chosen taste, had to put their tongue through a cardboard hole. But that was not all. They then had to put a frozen sock in their mouth, along with wet teeth and yoghurt.
And viewers were horrified at what Channel 4were claiming to be entertainment. Taking to X, viewers made their feelings known without hesitation.
One person wrote: "Reece and Maisie licking wet human teeth in a bowl is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen on #Taskmaster - and that's saying something!"
Another said: "That task was the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen #taskmaster.' 'Just watched someone lick a bowl of human teeth. Ah yes taskmaster the silly game show #taskmaster."
Meanwhile a third person added: "This is so gross but Reece saying fury hole has me cackling." And a fourth person simply put: "Gross..."

A fifth said: "My god watching Maisie and Reece doing that task was horrifying." "I was going to take it back but no... this is STILL the round they should have deleted," said a sixth.
But this is not the first time Channel 4 has been called into question over its challenges on the show. Back in June fans were left baffled after a challenge was broadcast which one viewer said they "didn’t think could be legally broadcast".
The episode at the time was titled Glass Half Most. Host Alex asked five celebrities to eat yoghurt in either the most or least dignified manner.
Addressing the contestants Alex said: "Dignity, four of them chose most dignity, just the one with the least. We're going to start with the most dignity - Stevie and Jason."
The star who chose to eat with the least dignity was seen dressed only in his boxer shorts, on all fours surrounded by a crowd of people.
And it was at this point he started to pretend to cry. He then licked yoghurt off Alex's shoes while saying: "Please forgive me daddy. I've got your shoes all mucky."
