Mario fans could be in for a treat as a new Nintendo Direct showcase, set to last a whopping hour, is on the horizon with a host of big reveals expected.
It seems the wait is over. A fresh Nintendo Direct has been confirmed following the company's recent Indie World and Partner Showcase presentations, which offered some exciting reveals but stopped short of announcing a Metroid Prime 4 release date or an Animal Crossing reveal. However, this could all change soon.
Nintendo has announced (via its app that you probably forgot about) that a new Nintendo Direct showcase is en route to deliver a massive presentation, hopefully packed with first-party titles. Interestingly, the showcase is timed just before the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros, whose 35th anniversary was marked with a full-on Mario-centric presentation revealing several titles featuring our favourite rotund plumber.
So, what can we anticipate from the showcase? And when should we be prepared for its debut? Here's everything you need to know about the Nintendo Direct September start time, and the games that might make an appearance.

Nintendo Direct September start timeThe Nintendo Direct September start time is scheduled for 6am PDT / 9am EDT / 2pm BST on Friday, September 12. You can catch the showcase on YouTube.
Nintendo has pledged a full hour of reveals for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, so grab a cuppa and prepare for a hefty dose of announcements.
There's no question that this is going to be a biggie, likely fleshing out the release schedule for the consoles for the rest of the year. Can you tell we're buzzing?
What can we forecast for the Nintendo Direct September showcase?Without release dates for them, and promises for their arrival before the end of the year, we can almost guarantee that this showcase will announce release dates for Metroid Prime 4, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Elden Ring Tarnished Edition. These are long overdue at this point, and gamers are chomping at the bit, even though early reports suggest that Elden Ring could do with some more polishing.
There are also high hopes that more big announcements are on the horizon for Mario and his titles, especially after Donkey Kong took over the Switch 2's 3D platformer world with the outstanding Bananza. Hopes are high that a new 3D adventure will arrive soon, but we're more likely to receive the much-needed Super Mario Maker 3, ideally featuring some new game styles that push the game into its third dimension.
After the second game didn't get a Nintendo Switch 2 update, players have been left wondering what plans for the series were – and this could be it.
Rumours are swirling that a new Animal Crossing game is in development, which would be a savvy move following the success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the original Switch. There's also high anticipation for Luigi's return to a new haunted mansion in an unannounced game, but at this point, it's anyone's guess what Nintendo has up its sleeve.
We're simply in the dark about what to expect. We're keeping our fingers crossed for some major reveals, but we can say with certainty that there will be some surprises. Get ready for some excitement, as at least we no longer have to fret over Hollow Knight: Silksong.
