Liberty Poole says she’s focusing on getting over her heartache in a healthy way following her break-up with boyfriend Joshua Raybould, last month. The Love Island star, who rose to prominence on the show in 2021, had another two attempts at finding The One on TV when she appeared in Love Island Games in 2023 and Love Island: All Stars last year, before getting together with aspiring DJ Joshua last summer.
However, a year on from going public with the romance, Liberty, 26, is focusing on getting back out there after confirming that a “breakdown in communication” led to their decision to separate. “There was no big scandal, no cheating, just an irreversible breakdown in communication,” she said in a statement last month. “Josh and I have parted amicably with fond memories of the love we shared.”
Catching up with new over a cocktail in London’s Shoreditch at a Superdrug Presents event, Liberty chats about getting over the break-up, her business ventures and going global in her search for a partner.

Hi, Liberty! You look amazing – what have you been doing?
Thank you! To be honest, I’ve been going through a break-up recently and I feel like after those everyone likes to have a little bit of a glow-up, so that’s what I’ve done. At the beginning, naturally, you are upset and you don’t eat as much so I did lose some weight, which wasn’t intentional. But I really love my body and I’m still super body positive.Body positivity comes in any size and that’s what is important to remember. I love myself through all of the motions.
You mentioned your break-up – how are you feeling now?
I’ve been through a lot of break-ups – I mean, you’ve seen me go through it on national TV! So I’ll be OK at the end of the day. But it’s one of those things. I did think he was The One, so it isn’t easy. I’ve just got to focus on me, my work and my new business, which is a swimwear brand for girls with bigger boobs. It’s called Uplifted The Label and we’ve just launched, but it’s going really well so far. I’m putting my all into that.
Do you think splitting up with Joshua was the right decision?
Yeah, I think I’m doing it right when it comes to getting over it too. I’ve been on my own before, but I’ve never coped with it in a healthy way. This time, I’m really trying to deal with it properly and in the right way. Every time you go through a break-up, you learn things about yourself – who you are as a person and what you want in the future.

What are your plans for the rest of the year now you’re single?
Travel. I’m so ready for my travel girl era. You’ll be seeing me be an international girl on social media, which I love. I really want to go to Bali, I’m thinking about going to Brazil for New Year’s Eve and am heading to Abu Dhabilater this year too, so there’s loads on. I don’t think there are any boys for me in Birmingham any more. I’ve lived there long enough to know that my husband isn’t in Birmingham, so off I go…
So you’re looking for a husband on your travels?
Yes, I’m looking for an international baddie next! I’d really like a businessman, so someone older and mature. I feel like now I have my own business that would work really well – a power couple.
Love Island: All Stars is coming back – what about heading there again?
Oh God, I’ve done it three times. I did Love Island, then Love Island Games and the first season of Love Island: All Stars, so I think my Love Island days are done.
I like people who aren’t really in the public eye – that’s more what I’m looking for. There’s no one I’ve seen on previous seasons who I’d really like to meet, if there was I’d feel differently. I just don’t think my husband is going to be on Love Island.
Did you watch Love Island this summer?
I did. I loved it, there was so much drama. I really loved the finalists and the winners. I know there’s been so much going on with people saying there was a divide in the villa, but I think everyone was great.
People forget that these are real people and it’s so tough when you come out of the villa. We need to be supporting Islanders not egging on a divide. While people were quite positive to me, I know how overwhelming it can be. So I’m sending love to everyone who was on the show this year.
