When it comes to warm-weather dressing, I need my wardrobe to be simple. I want pieces that don't cling but that also can be paired together in seconds to make a put-together outfit. And I think I’ve just found the ultimate pair of trousers that tick both of those boxes.
Enter FatFace’s Iva Navy Wide Leg Linen Trousers, £69, my new summer wardrobe obsession. They’ve already become my go-to for everything from office days to casual weekend lunching, and I’ve lost count of how many compliments I’ve had while wearing them. Stylish, comfortable and surprisingly flattering, they're all I want to wear at the moment in the heatwave (as someone who hates to show her legs).
The fabric is what won me over first. They’re made from 100% linen, which is ideal when the temperature starts to rise, with a soft cotton lining to keep things light and airy without any risk of transparency. Whether I’m running into the office or playing with my toddler nieces in the garden, they always feel cool and comfy.

Fit-wise, they’re ideal for my slightly taller frame. The wide-leg shape flares gently from the thigh, which helps balance the silhouette. There’s something about the way they move that just feels a little elevated, like you’ve made an effort, even if you’ve just thrown on a tank and sandals.
The elasticated, paper bag-style top has a drawstring that actually flatters rather than bulks out. It pulls in at just the right spot to give shape without digging in, so they feel comfy enough to wear all day. And while I have many light pairs of linen trouser, these are my first in a darker hue– and I'm converted. The navy is a classic shade that works with pretty much everything in my wardrobe – from crisp white shirts and striped tees to slouchy knits and cami tops. I’ve even dressed them up with gold jewellery and a strappy heel for an evening out.
At £69, they’re not the cheapest trousers on the high street, but the fabric and cut really warrants the price. However, if you do want a recommendation for a smaller budget, I also love my pair of New Look Stone Wide Leg Trousers, £26.99, which are a great quality for such a low price.
