Jack Grealish is being targeted by Everton, who hope to use the Manchester City star's desire to stay at home to their advantage.
England international Grealish has no future at the Etihad Stadium, and was omitted from City's squad for the Club World Cup in the United States this summer. He has been told he is free to find another club, but City will hope to secure a permanent exit for the 29-year-old they signed from Aston Villa for £100m in 2021.
Italian champions Napoli have been linked with a move for Grealish, who would link up with his former City team-mate Kevin De Bruyne were he to complete a move to Naples.
But The Independent report that the 39-times capped wide man would rather stay in the north of England at his Cheshire home he shares with partner Sasha Attwood and the pair's young daughter.

Seeking some stability after moving from the Midlands, Grealish may decide that a loan move to Everton is the perfect chance for him to try and regain the form that saw City make him the most expensive English player ever at the time when they bought him four years ago.
Cheshire is a favourite with footballers who play for the north west clubs due to its easy commuting distance to the training facilities for both the Manchester and Merseyside outfits.
Grealish has won three Premier League titles and the Champions League at City, but he has seen his influence on Pep Guardiola's side wane in recent years. He made just 20 Premier League appearances in each of the last two seasons, scoring only once in 2024-25.

Everton would see the signing of Grealish as a huge coup, with manager David Moyes said to be willing to allow him off the leash and and free him from the constraints he has often been under when playing for the demanding Guardiola.
The Merseysiders will move into their new Hill Dickinson Stadium at Liverpool's Bramley-Moore Dock at the start of this season after their men's side left Goodison Park.
That fresh start and new stage could also appeal to Grealish as he seeks to get his career back on track, and he could target winning his England place back in time for 2026 World Cup next summer.
