Why Weren’t the Trees Cut Down?
During the ₹100 crore road widening project, the district administration sought permission from the forest department to remove the trees. However, the request was declined. Instead, the forest department demanded compensation for 14 hectares of forest land. Unable to meet this condition, the administration took an unusual stand — they built the road around the trees.
