Vishal Mega Mart Limited has confirmed a tragic fire incident at one of its subsidiary’s retail stores in Delhi’s Karol Bagh, which resulted in the death of two individuals. The disclosure was made in an official statement under Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The fire broke out on the evening of Friday, July 4, 2025, at the store operated by Airplaza Retail Holdings Private Limited, a subsidiary of Vishal Mega Mart. The outlet, located at Shop Nos. 10209 and 10210 on Padam Singh Road near Pizza Hut, Block 14, Karol Bagh, saw a swift evacuation of all patrons, with staff ensuring their safety before the situation escalated.
Despite the prompt response from the Fire Department, which brought the flames under control, the company has now confirmed that two people lost their lives due to the incident.
In its statement, Vishal Mega Mart expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and assured that it is fully cooperating with the Delhi Police, who have registered an FIR and initiated a formal investigation into the cause and circumstances of the fire.
The company also clarified that all assets in the affected store were insured and steps are being taken to initiate appropriate insurance claims. A thorough assessment of the total damage and its potential impact is currently in progress.
“We regret and mourn the loss of lives at the store premises,” the statement read, while also requesting stakeholders to take note of the development.
