After 'raat gayi baat gayi' remark, Twinkle Khanna feels older people are better at hiding affairs than younger ones, gives credit to 'lots of practice'

Twinkle Khanna never shies away from speaking her mind, and her latest appearance on Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle has once again sparked lively discussions online. The actor-turned-writer, who recently made headlines for her “raat gayi baat gayi” remark on infidelity, shared another opinion, this time about relationships and how older people handle secrets better than the younger generation.

Twinkle Khanna says older people are better at hiding affairs

The new episode of the Prime Video talk show featured filmmaker Farah Khan and actor Ananya Panday as guests. Known for its light-hearted debates and candid conversations, the show’s latest segment, This Side, That Side, saw the four women take on statements about modern relationships, infidelity, and changing dynamics between generations.

When asked whether older people are better at hiding their affairs than younger ones, Twinkle immediately agreed, quipping, “Older people are much better, lots of practice.” Her tongue-in-cheek remark drew laughter from everyone, with Farah and Ananya stepping into the “agree” box alongside her. Kajol, however, disagreed with the statement and offered a different perspective.

Kajol argued that younger people are more skilled at keeping their lives, including affairs, private. “I feel younger people are much better at hiding everything about their lives,” she said. To this, Ananya pointed out that “because of social media, everything comes out anyway,” suggesting that privacy is nearly impossible in today’s hyper-connected world. Farah ended the debate on a humorous note, joking that the younger generation “posts everything, even when they are not in love.”

The episode continued with another playful topic: “Today’s kids change partners faster than they change outfits.” Twinkle once again stood in agreement, saying it shows how the younger generation is more open and less burdened by societal expectations. “It’s a good thing because in our time, we thought, ‘What will people say? We can’t do this.’ They are changing their partners quickly, and I think it’s a good thing,” she shared.

Netizens react to Twinkle Khanna's remarks

Ananya, however, offered a nuanced take, saying that people have always moved on from relationships; it’s just more visible now. “People have always been changing their partners. Earlier, it was a bit quiet,” she said. Twinkle added that it’s easier for today’s youth because they “have no baggage” and can move on without guilt or hesitation.

This isn’t the first time Twinkle has stirred conversation on her show. In an earlier episode featuring Karan Johar and Janhvi Kapoor, Twinkle’s “raat gayi, baat gayi” remark about physical infidelity not being a deal breaker led to strong reactions online. While she and Karan shared a light-hearted take on marriage and forgiveness, many netizens criticised her comment as insensitive.

Despite the backlash, Twinkle continues to use Two Much as a space to mix humour with honest reflection, even when her opinions divide audiences. The talk show is currently streaming on Prime Video.
