Shubman Gill was pleased with how Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohlibatted through the second innings in the third ODI of the series between Australia and India. Rohit and Kohli's unbeaten 168-run stand for the second wicket ensured India cruised past the finish line to secure the game at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Gill said that the second innings was 'pleasing to see'. He also classified the nine-wicket victory at the SCG as a 'special win on a special ground'.
“We had a near-perfect game. The chase was pleasing to see. Rohit and Kohli have done it for so many years, and it was a delight to watch. It was a special win on a special ground," stated Gill during the post-match presentation.
Like Gill, Mitchell Marsh complimented the duo of Rohit and Kohli as well as their glorious past before moving onto compliment the likes of Matt Renshaw and Nathan Ellis for the manner in which they performed.
“We’ve seen Rohit and Virat do that over 10 years against lots of teams. We needed one more stand in the back-end of our first innings. We had a great platform at 195 for three. We couldn’t cash in. India were too good with bat. I think the experienced guys who came into the side – (Matt) Renshaw, (Nathan) Ellis etc, did well we can be proud of winning the series after two games," he added.
Indiawere defeated in the first two matches by seven wickets (via DLS method) and two wickets in the first two ODIs, respectively. The Men in Blue were much more competitive in the recently-concluded match. Harshit Rana impressed with the ball too. He picked up a four-wicket haul (4/39 in 8.4 overs).
Australia were bowled out for 236 in 46.4 overs. Every bowler contributed from the touring side by picking up a minimum of one wicket. Matt Renshaw registered 56 off 58. He scored his maiden ODI fifty in just his third 50-over match.
