If you're a content creator, this news is crucial. YouTube's rules for gambling and violent gaming content are set to become stricter. The Google-owned platform has announced that, starting November 17th, it will restrict gambling videos with digital goods like NFTs and will impose age limits on casino-style or violent gaming content. Let's explore these rules in detail.

YouTube said this

YouTube stated that the rules are being updated to meet the needs of the rapidly changing digital world. The company doesn't want to be left behind by new trends like gambling through digital goods and NFTs. Therefore, it is implementing new rules to ensure a safe and responsible platform.

What will change with the new rules?

Until now, YouTube has banned videos that redirect viewers to uncertified gambling sites from Google. Starting November 17th, videos that promote gambling through digital items, such as video game skins, cosmetics, and NFTs, will also be banned. This means that videos by creators who promote or show gambling with in-game assets may be removed from the platform.

Casino-Style Videos Will Also Be Strictly Restricted

In addition to gambling, videos related to casino-style games will also be subject to age restrictions. YouTube states that such videos can be posted on the platform, but only viewers 18 years of age and older will be able to view them. Strictly, graphic gaming content will also be restricted. Age restrictions may also be imposed on videos depicting violence against human characters.
