Raheem Sterling's future at Chelsea could go on to help the club's ongoing transfer plans.

After spending last season on loan at Arsenal, Sterling has returned to Stamford Bridge but now faces an uncertain future with the Blues. Sterling scored one goal in 28 appearances during his spell on loan with the Gunners, and it now remains to be seen where the England international will be playing his football next season after returning to Chelsea.

There have been reports claiming that Sterling could be on the move in the near future, with Bayer Leverkusen - managed by Erik ten Hag - mentioned as a potential destination.

Reports have also claimed that Chelsea have placed a £20million asking price on Sterling this summer - suggesting that the 30-year-old could be on the move on a permanent basis before the September 1 deadline.

If Chelsea were to agree a deal for Sterling to leave the club on a permanent deal, it could help them fund a move for a new signing.

Xavi Simons is the latest player to belinked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with the RB Leipzig star's future also, seemingly, away from his current employers.

As football.london have already reported, personal terms between Chelsea and Simons are already on the verge of being agreed, as the Blues look to bring the Netherlands international to SW6. It's also understood that Chelsea have now opened talks with Leipzig as they look to agree a deal for the 22-year-old this summer.

The Bundesliga outfit are reported to value Simons at around €65million (£56million), and Chelsea managing to receive a fee in the region of £20million for Sterling would certainly help them in their efforts to have the funds available for Simons.
